Who is Chinu Kala?

Chinu Kala founded Rubans in the year 2013. She is an Indian women entrepreneur who launched a trendsetting costume jewelry brand that has taken the fashion world by miles. Chinu Kala was born and brought in a small town in India and she started her journey as a jewelry designer and reached hights from the self-made brand that was named as Rubans.

Her beautiful and affordable accessories were carried by some of the famous celebrities like- Blake Lively, Kendall Jenner, and Beyonce. Rubans are induldged in making necklaces, stackable bracelets, and cocktail rings.

After the completion of her schooling, she moved to Delhi to fulfill her dream of becoming a designer.

She found it tough to get a job in the competitive world of fashion as she didn’t approached top any formal designing course. Later, she decided to create her own jewelry designs.

Her first jewelry collection was inspired by the traditional Indian art – Meenakari, which featured colorful enameled pieces. The collection helped her establish the brand. Since then, she has been motivated to create many more beautiful collections.

In today’s time, Rubans is one of the most sought-after costume jewelry brands in the world.

In a Vogue interview, Chinu stated her love for jewelry and said she started arousing her passion for jewelry designing when she was just a kid. She would often put her hands on her mother’s closet and tried on her different pieces.

After learning her basics, she began selling her creations to local boutiques.

In 2009, Chinu introduced Rubans with a small collection of hair accessories. The Rubans very frequently gained popularity among fashionistas and started selling the products in high-end stores like Harvey Nichols and Selfridges.

Now, Rubans is available in over 50 countries and has a following among celebrities and style influencers.

Chinu covered a long way and remains true to her roots. She still designs all of the pieces herself and works closely with her team to ensure that each one is as per the mark.

She made her commitment to quality and design, a top choice for red carpet appearances and everyday wear alike.
